MEET KARNO

"Hi! I'm Kjartan "Karno" Arnorsson. I'm an Icelandic cartoonist who, through many twists of fate too implausible to relate here, ended up in Tucson, Arizona. I actually make a living (albeit thin) off my art. Check out www.Patreon.com/Karno/overview if you'd like to see a sample of my works.

    I still practice the lost art of "Zines". In the strange, possibly mythical times before the Internet, cartoonists and screed-writers would partake in something called the "Small Press". These were usually small print-run fanzines printed up on photocopiers and traded with other 'zine enthusiasts via the snail-mail. I have pretty much never stopped doing this.

   One of my screed-type 'zines, "I want YOU in US prison" caught the eye of James Terry, an unjustly incarcerated fellow who also doesn't give up easily. He wrote to me, I wrote him back, and an unlikely friendship blossomed. Naturally, James is trying to win his freedom. I've tried to help with this goal as I could, which all too often was not much. The starving artist is a stereotype for good reason. But what little I can do, I try to do. If you'd like to join us in this good cause, that would be awesome. Many hands make light work!
