ABOUT
James is a free-spirited and creative individual with a knack for wordplay. He is now 56 years old and has spent 18 of the past 19 years in solitary confinement in a Wisconsin prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Some of James’ favorite things include enchiladas, blueberry cheesecake, purple (the color), and Don Quixote. James was born in France, and though he hasn’t been to Europe since 1978, he still remembers and dearly misses the scent of Katzweiler, Germany, where he lived for a time as a child.
We are a group of (mostly) young people involved in the movement for prison abolition who are supporters of James. We’ve put together this website on his behalf to try and spread awareness about his story and raise money for a private investigator to obtain the evidence necessary to petition his case, as well as to raise awareness about the broader issues of wrongful convictions and the inhumanity of prisons.
